Our Beliefs
What we believe shapes how we live – and we’re committed to God’s Word, faithful discipleship, and life together as a new creation in Christ.
Our Statement of Faith
We believe the Christian life is both a present reality and a future hope. In Christ, we are already being made new – and one day, God will renew all things. As a church, we live in that tension with confidence, purpose, and joy.
The Bible
We believe that the Triune God created the world in six literal days. The earth was perfect in its original form. God created man and woman and bound them in gender that He desired for each individual soul. We believe that men and women are both created in the image of God, and therefore are equal in value and personhood but are unique from each other in their roles.
Sin
We believe that man was created perfect and holy, set apart to reflect the Creator. However, with free will in hand, the woman was deceived by Satan, and the first man, Adam chose to breach his faith by yielding to disobedience. This brought the sin nature into the world and left all of mankind completely dead in sin. All of humanity, from this point on, was under the wrath of God and completely helpless.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ was ordained by God the Father for His eternal purpose to be the mediator between God and man. Jesus Christ, the Son of God is the creator, sustainer, heir and ultimate judge of the world. Jesus, as the head of the church is the ultimate and final Prophet, Priest and King. Jesus Christ is the second person of the trinity, He is the brightness and glory of God, He is equal to and of the exact substance of God the Father. At the fullness of time in history, the Son of God became man, taking on all of the properties of humanity but without sin. Jesus, the Son of God was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary. He was of the seed of Abraham and David from the tribe of Judah fulfilling the prophetic utterances from the Old Testament. Jesus Christ was wholly man and wholly God at the same time, and is the only and ultimate mediator between man and God. Jesus, at the appropriate time took on and bore the sins of all of mankind both past and present. He became sin for all of mankind, fully bearing the wrath of the Holy God to the point of death. He became a curse for us and remained in the state of the dead for three days, after which, He rose victoriously from the dead and ultimately ascended to the right hand of the Father where He is ruling. Jesus Christ will return to earth to judge the living and the dead at the end of the world.
There is only one God and He exists in three persons. The Holy Spirit is the person of God that is equal to the Father and the Son and has existed for all of eternity and has no beginning or end. The Holy Spirit was active in creation. The Holy Spirit is the author of our sanctification. The Holy Spirit is actively working in regenerating and sanctifying those who have responded to his draw. The Holy Spirit seals the believer at the point he truly believes. The Holy Spirit was the active source of all written scripture. The Holy Spirit is equal to the Father and Son and should be worshiped.
Salvation
The salvation of the individual human soul is a work done by God through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ and the drawing of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. Jesus Christ was the perfect fulfillment of the sacrificial system by allowing His body to be crucified on a cross and His blood to be shed to make the perfect and finished atonement satisfying the wrath of God. We believe that the grace of God is offered to all men and is only applied through faith. A person is therefore justified by God through believing Faith. The work of salvation is a continued work by God to sanctify the one whose sin has been atoned for and has been declared just by the Holy Judge.
Sanctification
Sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit in every believer without exception. Sanctification is the continuing work of the gospel in the life of each follower of Christ. Sanctification is applied through the Word of God and in his sovereign allowance of events in the lives of Christians.
The End of Days
We believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth with His saints and will judge all men. All men will be judged for their works done in the body and only those who have been made just by the work of Jesus Christ through believing faith will live forever with God. Those who have rejected the grace of God will forever exist outside the presence of God in the torment of hell.
Baptism
We believe that baptism is a picture of what Jesus Christ has literally done for us. In placing our faith and hope in the work of Jesus Christ, we have died, were buried and rose from the dead with Him. Physical baptism is a picture of what God has done for us. Our old man was buried with our sins. At the point of our salvation, we were raised from spiritual death to spiritual life. Being emersed in water is a picture of being buried with Christ and coming out of the water is a picture of being raised with Christ. This is a picture of spiritual life, every man must still die physically.
Worship
We believe that congregational worship is the proclamation of who God is, what He has done and what he promises to do in the future. We believe the source of what we can know about God comes from His revelation to us in His creation and His inspired word. Corporate worship is not the expression of feelings, or the desire to have God do something to you or for you. Feelings and emotions should not be the source of truth but can often times be the response to the proclamation of truth.
Prayer is both taught and lived out by Jesus Christ in the New Testament, giving us a clear understanding of exactly how it should be done. The new covenant saint has direct access to God the Father. This access is made available only because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus is our great High Priest who enters the holy of holies and makes intercession for us. We have no merit of our own to approach God, but completely depend on Jesus Christ. Jesus taught that prayer, along with fasting and giving, is primarily a private privilege. The substance of prayer should be the will of God not our own preferences and desires.
The Lord’s Supper
We believe that participating in the worshipful remembrance of the work of Jesus Christ in giving his body to be crucified and His blood to be shed to cleanse us of sin is our greatest privilege. This should be done with consistency and reverence. This should never be forsaken or taken lightly.
Marriage
We believe that marriage has one singular meaning. It is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single exclusive union. We believe that marriage is a lifelong covenant, ordained by God, between one man and one woman. Intimate sexual activity should only occur under the confines of this covenant.
